GOALS OF THE FUNDATION
1. Raising awareness and lobbying
With every gun removed from the streets, a life is saved.
2. Advocating for safer communities
Become the leading voice in the country on educating the public and policymakers about the realities of gun violence. Be a strategic voice in the ear of government to implement harsher penalties as a deterrent to gun use. There is no reason why a tiny territory like Barbados should be plague with such a solvable problem.
Implementing national gun violence prevention campaigns throughout Barbados to keep communities safe in partnership with local and international law enforcement agencies. These campaigns would include schools, in an effort to target minors from primary to secondary schools.
3. Connections and support
Through a survival and support program/ network, TCF will provide trauma-informed programs, training and access to mental health counseling to those coping with the consequences of gun violence.
4. Strategic partnerships
Joining regional and international organizations to gather information on community best practices to reduce gun proliferation in Barbados.
5. Incentive and financial resource grants
Incentivizing and compensation local communities on information leading to law enforcement seizures of illegal firearms. Financial resources would also go towards helping law enforcement with training and also in increasing special units to focus directly on illegal firearms. (is this still the case)
